There’s this quiet battle that many of us fight , the one inside our own minds. It doesn’t make noise. It doesn’t always show on our faces. But it exhausts us deeply.
It’s called overthinking .And sometimes, it feels like drowning in your own thoughts.
🌊 It Starts Small
Overthinking doesn’t come all at once. It starts with a small question, a doubt, or a “what if.”
You replay a conversation.
You worry about something that hasn’t even happened.
You imagine every possible outcome.
You keep going, even when there’s nothing left to think about.
At first, it feels like you’re just being careful. But soon, it becomes a storm in your mind. And you forget how to breathe.

That’s what overthinking feels like. Your own thoughts trapping you.
According to a study by the University of Michigan, 73% of people aged 25–35 say they overthink regularly. And most of them say it keeps them awake at night.

Because it’s heavy.
Overthinking fills your head with so many thoughts that you can’t see clearly anymore — just like water filling your lungs. It blurs reality. You forget what’s real and what’s just fear.
You feel helpless, even when nothing is actually wrong. You feel tired, even when you’ve done nothing all day.
You feel like you’re sinking — and no one even notices.

My Story: From Overthinking to Healing.
I was an overthinker for years.
Every little thing bothered me . a late reply, a change in someone’s tone, silence. I used to blame myself for everything and carry guilt I didn’t deserve. But slowly, I learned to let go. I started writing my thoughts down instead of keeping them inside. I learned to question my thoughts instead of believing all of them. It wasn’t easy, and I still have bad days . but I no longer let my mind control me. I don’t have to overthink to feel safe anymore. I can breathe. I can be calm.
☁ What Helps Me Now
Writing: when my head is full, I write it down. It helps clear the noise.
Taking deep breaths: it sounds small, but it reminds me I’m here, not stuck in my mind.
Talking to someone I trust: sometimes, saying things out loud makes them smaller.
Reminding myself: “This is just a thought. I don’t have to follow it.”
“Not every thought deserves a reaction. Some are just passing clouds.”
💡 But Here's the Truth
Overthinking is not a weakness.
It means you care. It means you feel deeply. It means you’re trying to protect yourself .Even if it’s hurting you.
You don’t need to “think less.”
You just need to learn to think differently.
Start by reminding yourself:
Not everything needs an answer right now
Not everything is your fault
Your thoughts are not always true
It’s okay to rest
It’s okay to feel uncertain
🌱 Gentle Ways to Come Back to Yourself
Write down what’s on your mind (empty the clutter)
Go for a short walk
Breathe deeply for 1 minute
Say, “This thought doesn’t control me”
Talk to someone safe
Do something physical: clean, stretch, move
Remind yourself of what’s real, here, and now
“Don’t believe everything you think.”
Your brain can lie to you when it's scared.
